Celebrations
The children who have been coming in both the mornings and afternoons have settled into school well. We are looking forward to Monday morning when the two groups will meet. The children will be staying for lunch 4 times next week. Each group (A and B) will each get a ‘quiet’ first lunchtime with just half a class, before they all stay for lunches on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
This week’s learning
We will be learning about the ELLI animals for Term 1 and 2. The first ELLI animal we will be learning about is the Owl. You can find out more about the ELLI animals on the page ‘Our Curriculum’.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
The children will have their second PSHE lesson this week where they will be using the Colour Monster story to help them talk about their feelings.
Communication and Language
This week, we will be reading Owl Babies and talking about the story.
Literacy
This week we will start to learn Phase 2 phonics. They will learn the phonemes (sounds) s, a, t, and p.
Maths
We will be counting and singing number songs, as well as starting to assess what the children already know about numbers. This will enable us to plan a curriculum building on their prior knowledge.
Religion and Worldviews
This week the children will talk about who is special to them.
