Wednesday 23rd October – Harvest Festival – Harvest Collection 2024
Please start to send in any Harvest donations of dried rice, pasta, and canned foods like soup, tinned meals, toothpaste, shampoo, shower gel to your class teacher by Wednesday 23rd October when we will be donating them to representatives from the Salvation Army to support their work with homeless and vulnerable people in Bristol.
Thursday 24th October – Individual Photo Day
Friday 25th October – End of Term 1. Non uniform day. Contributions to FHIS.

Phonics and Spelling
Writing
Introduce noun phrases. Children write noun phrases about George and the Dragon from ‘The Egg’.
Create a story map of our class text, ‘The Egg’
Orally retell the story using their story map first. The children will write the story of ‘The Egg’ in their books, using their story maps to help them remember the sequence of the story.
Reading
Assessments of phonics. Use of prediction when reading fiction texts and discussion and answering questions as part of a small group.

- To add to the next multiple of ten, using a hundred square to support my learning.
- To add across a ten by adding to the next multiple of ten and then counting up in ones.
- To show my understanding how to subtract across ten using ten frames and number lines.
- To subtract from a 10, using a hundred square to support my understanding.
Wider Curriculum
Art and R+WV -Islamic Art To create tessellation pictures using a range of resources To explore how many different tones of a particular colour can be mixed using different medias.
DT-Evaluations of clay work project
Geography – To use evidence in building types and landscapes to think about different countries that castles would come from. Use evidence and reasoning to put castles on a relative timeline from oldest to newest.
